Biography

Dr. Gagandeep Bhardwaj is Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, India. He is associated with the Machine Design group of the Department. He received his PhD degree in the area of fracture analysis of composite materials from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, in 2016, M. Tech. in Applied Mechanics from the Applied Mechanics Department, MNNIT Allahabad (2009-2011) and Bachelors PTU Jalandhar (2004-2008), India. Prior to joining Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Dr. Gagandeep Bhardwaj has worked as Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department at NIT Jalandhar (Jan 2016-June 2016) and as a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (July 2011- July 2012).

Dr. Gagandeep Bhardwaj works in the area of fracture mechanics, composite materials, functionally graded materials, smart materials and analysis of plates. The research work is published in various peer reviewed journals of international repute such as Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Composite Structures, Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, Composites Part-B, Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, Engineering Fracture Mechanics, Archives of Computational Methods in Engineering etc. The total impact factor (TIF) of all the papers published in reputed journals is around 92. He has published 21 research articles in SCI journals and 10 conference papers. These publications have received 620 citations in total with an h-index of 13 and i-index of 13. He has supervised master students in the area of fracture mechanics. Moreover, a research grant of rupees 20.22 lacs received from DST-SERB for three years.
